Good-Bye Mr Wells...thanks for everything, we'll miss you!

Term 4 - Week 5

We used Venn Diagrams to look at the different things that
influence (affect or cause) changes to Tahunanui Beach.
We worked in groups to sort them into those caused by nature, those caused by people, and those that could be caused by both.
We had to justify (give a reason) for why we chose to
place them where we did.
Finally we had to present our diagrams to the class.

Term 4 - Week 3

The class finished making their fantastic clocks!

Term 4 - Week 2

We started making our own wooden clocks!
Our student teacher, Mr Wells, brought in wooden clock faces and we had to work together to measure where the numbers would go.  First we used pencil and then went over the pencil with vivid.
Next we will paint them and add the hands.

Term 3 - week 9

We carried out a science experiment to see if it was possible to push a skewer through a balloon without popping it.
The secret is to use dish-washing liquid..or vegetable oil, and to place the skewer where the rubber is thickest.
The pictures below show our results!

"We mixed baking soda (alkaline) and vinegar (acid) to see what the reaction would be.
The balloon inflated because when baking soda and vinegar mixed and bubbled it made a gas called carbon dioxide which made the balloon inflate. We enjoyed doing it because it was messy and exciting"  Emily

"We used balance scales to see if different things weighed the same.
We could see which thing was heavier and which one was lighter....
Mr Pearson's shoe was lighter than Madeleine's" - Jacey

Mr Pearson held an art lesson for the other teachers....
most of them managed to behave.
